Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays provide our team with clear, informative diagnostic images, allowing us to identify and treat dental problems in their earliest stages. X-rays allow the dentist to see areas of your mouth otherwise not visible, like the inside of a cavity in your tooth. Although the digital sensors we use for taking images of your mouth look similar to traditional x-ray film, the sensor is actually linked to a computer.

Once we take the image, it’s projected onto a screen so our dentists can see your x-rays in great detail. Digital x-rays expose you to about 70% less radiation than film x-rays, and are also safer for the environment because we don’t need to use and dispose of processing chemicals used with traditional x-rays. We want to ensure that we can properly diagnose and treat any issues that you have as quickly as possible, and x-rays help us do that. Most dentists will recommend that you get x-rays at least once a year to ensure that you are able to catch any cavities or other concerns before they become larger issues.

Intraoral Cameras

An intraoral camera is an instrument that is designed specifically for use in dentistry. The small handheld camera is about the size of a pen and allows us to take highly detailed images of your teeth. These enlarged images let us detect details that are simply too small to see during a visual exam. At Mill District Dental, we understand the importance of correctly diagnosing and treating any oral issues that you may have, and this is one of the best tools available to help us achieve that.

We will show these images on a monitor so you can see what we see. Using these images, we can show you the reason you need treatment and talk to you about your options. Intraoral cameras provides us with the information we need to make your diagnosis easier and more accurate. Our dentist will then be able to give you the best advice for your unique needs.
